The existing oak floor, made from old railway wagon planks, had many irregularities and a worn finish. The entire floor was dismantled, after which the planks were sanded on-site using a mobile planing bench.

The floor was then reinstalled, retaining its characteristic appearance. Steel springs along the edges allow the wood to expand and contract without causing the floor to warp. It was finished with a whitewash oil by Duller & Co.
